Accelerate your digital skills for new career opportunities

Funded by Skillnet Ireland, the Irish Centre for Business Excellence (ICBE) has recently announced the introduction of Digital Skills Accelerator. ICBE is a not-for-profit organisation established by leading companies across Ireland. The knowledge-sharing network of businesses are committed to helping each other become the most competitive in their field.

Committed to supporting professionals in the Munster region whose careers have been impacted by Covid-19, the Digital Skills Accelerator programme encourages job recovery and career progression.

As part of the course, participants will complete virtual training modules and industry-based work placements over a 12-week period.

Eligible participants from all job sectors are invited to register to the programme. However, those who have been displaced by the ongoing pandemic from heavily impacted sectors such hospitality, events and aviation, to name a few, are strongly encouraged to register.

Having identified areas where skills shortages and high career growth opportunities exist, this hands-on programme of learning has been carefully developed in conjunction with relevant ICT industry experts. Digital Skills Accelerator offers participants who may have little or no IT experience an opportunity to hone and develop these necessary skills ahead of returning to work. Similarly, the educational course caters for those who seek to strengthen existing skills and transfer them to a new sector.

Participants in ICBE’s Digital Skills Accelerator can expect to improve CV and interview skills, gain valuable access to industry-based work placement, as well as build confidence and gain a clear pathway for career progression

The programme leaders will work with candidates individually, to develop existing and new skills through digital training. Participants will be trained and supported in achieving a stronger and more sustainable career within the Munster region.

Applicant Eligibility

If you are over 18 years of age and have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and find yourself on the Pandemic Unemployment payment (PUP), this programme is for you.

Participation in the Digital Skills Accelerator programme will not impact the payment of those who are currently in receipt of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.

Making Remote Work-National Remote Work Strategy

For those who found themselves converting spare bedrooms, kitchen tables and cold conservatories to home offices overnight last March; working from home has now become our new reality. There are certainly many benefits including less commuting time, more quality time with family and a more flexible schedule. However, there is also some uncertainty around it. A big question for many is, how long will I be working from home?

The new Strategy on Remote Working, published last week by the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar formulises the working from home set up for many. People will now have a legal right to seek to work from home from their employer. The government is also developing a code of practise for the right to disconnect, allowing for your house to be both your home and office, but not always at the same time. This encourages people to disconnect from their emails and alerts both on their phone and laptop. Furthermore, there will also be a review on the tax benefits of working from home in the next budget.
