Hosted by CEO and editor of the Irish Farmers Journal Justin McCarthy, the evening’s panel included beef specialist Declan Marren; dairy editor Aidan Brennan; and veterinary practitioner Donal Lynch.

The panel discussed final preparations for the upcoming calving season as well as pre-calving diets, mineral supplementation, colostrum management, correct use of the calving jack and giving the newborn calf the best start in life.

Our second in the series is available to watch now. The event focused on the use of beef genetics on the dairy herd and discussed the challenges faced in ensuring a viable dairy beef calf industry in Ireland.
