The Irish Farmers Journal understands that Laois dairy farmer Tom Phelan is to step down from his role as IFA dairy committee chair as he intends running for a position on the Glanbia board.
Phelan was elected to the Glanbia council during the week in the Donoughmore-Monasterevin region.
He is now in a position to challenge for the seat on the Glanbia board as former chair Martin Keane is retiring from the board.
We understand Stephen Arthur will take over as chair of the IFA dairy committee.
