I see the youngest board member of Lakeland Dairies Co-op, Niall Matthews from Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, unseated sitting chair Alo Duffy at Lakeland’s board meeting last week.
I understand the vote was tight, so tight in fact that they had to draw lots between the two persons vying for the chair position, all on Zoom.
While the move was unexpected, it’s tough at the top as all board members know.
Andrew McHugh from Longford also steps up as vice-chair in place of Colin Kelso who didn’t stand again, while Alan McCay is also vice-chair.
