Powerscourt Distillery’s homage to St Brigid: 2-4 February
Co Wicklow’s Powerscourt Distillery is partnering with The K Club to pay homage to St Brigid on Friday 2 February. It includes a drinks reception and three-course dining experience, taking place in the resort’s Barton Restaurant in Kildare. Tickets: €105 per person (plus booking fee) or overnight rate for €200 per person. Powerscourt Distillery will also host their annual St Brigid’s Day event in Wicklow on Sunday 4 February from 12pm-5pm. Featuring live music and entertainment, Brigid’s cross making, Irish food, wine and whiskey tastings.

IMbolc International Music Festival, Derry: 28 January-4 February

Brigid’s Day in Richmond Barracks, Inchicore, Dublin 8: 26 January-4 February
For St Brigid’s Day, there is a selection of events taking place including ‘Make Brigid’s Crosses’ on 26 January at 11am-12pm; ‘Make a Brideog doll’ on 1 February at 1-2pm; and on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February, St Brigid’s Day Fair takes place from 11am-5pm.

Brigid Fest 2024, Nenagh Arts Centre, Co Tipperary: 1 February
Brigid has come to represent wisdom and strength and it’s these attributes that Brigid Fest 2024 aims to celebrate with a day of activities including St Brigid’s cross making, 2pm-6pm (free of charge) with Lynn Kirkham, community engagement artist; Brigid Fest Poster Screen Printing, 4.30pm-7.30pm (free of charge), with the talented members of Mná Na nEalaín, a network of Irish female artists; Stitch & Bitch, 6.30pm-8.30pm, €10 with fashion and textile artist Mary O’Sullivan for an embroidery workshop that combines craft with activism; and Empowered Pilates, 7.30pm-8.30pm, €10, led by local instructor, Sharon Nagle.

Brigid of Faughart Festival, Dundalk, Co Louth: 31 January-5 February
A celebration of Brigid, Goddess and Saint, some of the highlights of this year’s festival include: Wisdom Talks by Dolores Whelan (co-founder), Manchán Magan, author and journalist, and Mael Brigde, Canadian poet and author. A new specially commissioned poem-mural by poet Siobhán Mac Mahon will be emblazoned across a building in the town centre.

Brigid’s Day Retreat: Tending Your Inner Flame, Blacklion, Co Cavan: 3 February
Organised by Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, step away for the day to explore Brigid‘s symbolism and heritage in creative writing, Brigid cross weaving, brooch making, felting, and more. Weather permitting there will be a field trip to a local Brigid site, Old St Brigid’s Chapel, Killinagh, its holy well and cursing/ blessing stones.
