With four big CEO positions still to fill in the National Dairy Council, Munster Bovine, Ornua and Animal Health Ireland, it has been a busy few weeks of appointments and movement across the Agri jobs market. As we wait to see who will fill those big shoes, we take a look at recent appointments.
Seán Molly takes up the role of CEO of Tirlán
It was announced last week that Jim Bergin, current CEO of Tirlán will be retiring from his position and stepping down from the board. Seán Molloy who is currently chief ingredients and agribusiness officer will take up the position in August.
Speaking about his new position Seán says, “I look forward to leading our superb team and I am grateful to the board for placing its trust in me. As we navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead in partnership with my 2,300 colleagues, I will focus on what is important to our farm families and customers as we lead an ambitious business into the future.”
Jamie Leonard starting new role as agribusiness director in IFAC
After 16 years of delivering record readership and revenue growth in the Irish Farmers Journal, Jamie Leonard leaves his role as head of circulation and marketing. He is taking up the position as food and agribusiness director in IFAC next month. Speaking about his new role, Jamie says: “I am really excited to join IFAC’s food and agribusiness team. IFAC is in an exciting phase of growth with ambitious plans for the future and I look forward to using my energy, passion and experience to deliver growth for IFAC’s clients”.
Ciaran Lynch takes up the reins as mart manager at Elphin
Making the move from the motor industry into the livestock sector is Roscommon man Ciaran Lynch. As well as previously working in construction, Ciaran also runs his own weanling to store enterprise.
Speaking about what he is looking forward to in his new role as mart manager in Elphin, Ciaran says: “I want Elphin Mart to continue as one of the leading marts in the country for good quality cattle, while keeping all our sellers and buyers happy and enticing new customers to the mart, which is very important”.
Fionnuala McDermott takes up a ruminant technical sales specialist role with TechMix
Having previously completed a PhD in Teagasc Moorepark, Fionnuala McDermott from Co Wicklow has started a new role with TechMix as ruminant technical sales specialist. After completing veterinary nursing in college, she went on to do a post-grad diploma with Meat Technology Ireland. Her PhD research was in “examination of the factors affecting the composition, quality and vitality of bovine colostrum”.
Speaking about her new role, Fionnuala says: “I am looking forward to working with a great team to support the physiological needs of dairy cows and calves across Ireland and the United Kingdom.”
