After receiving unprecedented negative press in 2024, it remains to be seen how much protected urea will be used in 2025. Teagasc have come out strong to say that reductions in grass growth have come about as a result of the poor growing conditions in 2024, not because protected urea doesn’t work as well as CAN.On the grass and clover trials in Moorepark with 150kg N/ha applied, grass growth was 11.5t DM/ha for 2024, back 17% on the five year average.
