Lakeland and Glanbia increased milk prices by 1c/l, bringing their prices to 32.2c/l excluding VAT. Kerry upped its price by 1.5c/l to 32.7c/l and Carbery increased its price by 1c/l.
Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal this week, Siobhán Talbot, Glanbia chief executive, didn’t comment on any future milk prices for Irish farmers but did say that dairy markets are well balanced currently.
Meanwhile, Kerry Group chief executive Stan McCarthy told this paper that a price of 32-33c/l is sustainable in the market and is a good average. Prices at this week’s GDT were down 0.4%.
