Base prices for steers have firmed at €4.05/kg. Heifers are trading on a base of €4.15/kg.
At Wednesday’s beef forum, IFA livestock chair Angus Woods said: “Beef markets are in a strong position. This message was delivered by Bord Bia and Meat Industry Ireland, and this, combined with strong live export performance, is underpinning prices.
"There is no basis for any reduction in the trade with strong market demand.”
