Teagasc is looking to recruit new participants to its BETTER farm sheep programme.
Lowland farmers are being sought in the midlands and in the Roscommon/Longford areas, while Teagasc is also looking to recruit hill sheep farms in the Connemara/west Mayo region and in west Kerry.
The programme focuses on bringing about significant improvements in the farm’s profitability through adoption of the latest farm technologies.
This includes optimising the farm’s output through the development of a three- or five-year farm plan, which focuses on aspects such as breeding, grassland management, health and financial performance.
Further information can be gained by making an expression of interest to Teagasc. This can be completed by emailing Michael Diskin, enterprise leader Teagasc Athenry, at michael.diskin@teagasc.ie, or head of Sheep Programme Michael Gottstein at michael.gottstein@teagasc.ie.
Expressions can also be made in writing to Teagasc, BETTER Farm Sheep Programme, Animal & Grassland Research & Innovation Centre, Mellows Centre, Athenry, Co Galway.
Deadline
Farmers expressing interest in the programme will be issued with an application form. The closing date for receipt of expression of interest is 5pm, on Friday 15 September 2017.
