This was the wettest August in Newport since 2009.
Meanwhile, on 22 August, Malin Head, Co Donegal, received a massive 77.2mm, which made it the wettest August day since 1955. Some 63mm of rain fell in a six-hour period.
Farmers in the west and northwest have been forced to house cattle as a result of the heavy rains and the harvest has been at a standstill in many places too.
There were just nine wet days recorded last month at Casement Aerodrome, Co Dublin, while Newport had 24 wet days in August.
