Other counties who make and appearance in the top five include Galway with 434,693 sheep, Mayo with 423,953, Kerry with 321,372 and Wicklow with 249,305 sheep.
The lowest number of sheep recorded in a county is Limerick, which has 23,056 sheep.
This is followed by Dublin with 25,378, Clare with 26,069, Longford with 41,557 and Monaghan with 45,845 sheep.
