How long is AXA in the farm insurance market?

We entered the farm insurance market in June 2018.

What market share does AXA have in the farm insurance market?

We believe, after just one year in the market that we have attained over 10% market share.

Why do you think farmers are switching?

AXA promised to deliver a new solution for today’s farmer, so when farmers get a farm quote from us they are surprised with the covers and value we are offering. We have a ‘low claims discount’ which rewards farmers up to 30% off their farm insurance if they had no claims in the last three years. We allow 20% off where they have had one claim in the and 10% discount where they had two claims.

What trends are you seeing in farm insurance?

Farmers are a lot more conscious of the need to have personal insurance cover in the event of an accident. You cannot claim under your own liability for an accident to yourself – so we recommend having personal accident and hospitalisation cover to ensure that in the event of being out of action due to illness or accident, you have an income coming in to pay for replacement labour.

What advice do you have for farmers who want to save on insurance?

To get best value I would strongly recommend that you shop around. We have made it very easy for farmers to change. We have removed the requirement for form filling and we can switch a farmer over the phone.

What specific insurance types does AXA offer over competitors?

We offer Jeep Insurance with competitive ratings for older jeeps. We can also offer cover for secondary occupations outside farming, for example self- catering accommodation, B&Bs and farmers markets. We can also offer cover for Basic Payment Schemes in the event of penalties due to insurance perils.

How many branches do Axa operate through?

We sell AXA farm insurance through 20 AXA branches, a large broker network, online and over the phone.

You have recently launched Farm Hero – can you explain what a farmer needs to do and why AXA has launched it.

We wanted to recognise members of the farming community who bring to life our promise of “Know You Can”. A Farm Hero is someone who goes out of their way to help their neighbour and their community. Rural communities in Ireland are hugely supportive of one another and we want to recognise those people and the time and energy they give to helping others. We want to hear about the inspiring farmers and farm families across the country and recognise them for their time and effort.
