The live export trade for calves was hit with some disruption this week as a number of sailings were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

It is hoped that sailings will return to normal from early next week.

This, along with increasing calf numbers, has seen a dip in the market for export-type bull calves in recent days.

Friesian bulls are back €16/head on the week to an average price of €61/head.

However, older and stronger calves are less affected and are still being met with strong farmer demand.
