Crops & Spreaders 2019 will take place at the Teagasc Crops Research Centre, Oak Park, Carlow, on Wednesday 26 June. It is an event brought to you by the Irish Farmers Journal and Teagasc.

A number of the country’s top fertiliser spreader brands will take part in a demonstration led by the Irish Farmers Journal and Teagasc.

The team will focus on the key features of each spreader, such as disc vanes and drop points, setting bout widths, headland management, GPS controls and much more.

Demonstration arena

Attendees will also see the spreaders operational in the demonstration arena, with a live video feed from the cab of the tractor.

Many other aspects of fertiliser spreading will be discussed on the day.

The fertiliser spreaders which will feature in the demo include Amazone, Bogballe, Rauch, Sulky and Vicon.

In addition to this, over 50 Irish and international machinery brands will be showcasing their products and services to the tillage sector.

The event will also provide an opportunity to view demonstrations from the Teagasc crops research programme at the Oak Park.

Over 10,000 plots are assessed at Oak Park and other locations throughout the country, where essential data is gathered.

Issues addressed include chemical efficacy, potential of pre-commercial crop varieties against diseases, optimum nutrient management and crop stewardship and finally the importance of biodiversity and integrated pest management strategies.

At the open day, Teagasc staff will be on hand to engage with farmers and growers, providing an opportunity to discuss the present and future.
