Ongoing protests meant just 11,685 cattle went through the Irish factories last week, less than one-third of what would be expected this time of year.

For those that were processed, the base price was €3.45/kg for steers and €3.55/kg for heifers, but this is coming under pressure in the factories that remain active.

For bulls, U grades range from €3.50/kg to €3.55/kg on average, while R grades are moving from €3.40/kg to €3.50/kg, and cows are steady with O grades making between €2.95/kg and €3.05/kg
