Farmec will demonstrate a wide range of Fella mowers, tedders and rakes at FTMTA Grass & Muck 2014. The Fella SM 310FZ-KC front-mounted mower will be in action mounted together with the SM 310 TL-KC linkage-mounted mower. Both of these machines are fitted with the new Effective spring tine conditioners which can be easily detached from the mower.
The Fella SM 310 FZ-KC is a six-disc, 3m wide, front-mounted mower with trailing headstock, which is claimed to be easier to pull than to push. The spring-loaded, parallelogram, overhead frame is claimed to allow the cutter-bar freedom of vertical and oscillating movement to follow the ground contours without surface damage.
The SM 310 TL-KC is a matching six-disc, 3m wide, linkage-mounted mower. Centre pivot attachment and trailing cutter-bar allows the mower to follow ground contours. The Fella Turbo-lift Hydro-pneumatic suspension system (TL System) is claimed to provide constant, continuous variable ground surface contact pressure. It is adjustable from the cab, allowing the surface pressure of the cutter-bar to be adapted to the surface conditions.
The Fella SM 311Trans KC is a 3m wide, semi-mounted mower with a wheel support which reduces the load on the tractor by distributing the weight evenly between the tractor and the bogie wheel. The design allows the mower to be operated with low horse-power tractors from 90hp upwards.
The trailing cutter-bar is carried on a frame with parallel linkage which provides vertical and oscillating movements to follow the ground contours without damage to the field surface. The transport width is less than 2m and the mower is claimed to follow the tractor like a trailer on the road. All these mowers have individual gearbox drives to each mowing disc. They also include the unique driveGuard protection system.
The Fella SM 2870 is a new seven-disc, 2.82m (9.16ft) wide, linkage-mounted mower. The drive to the cutter-bar comes directly from the first mower disc, eliminating the need for an inner skid. The gears run in an oil bath ensuring full lubrication to the bed in any mowing position. Safety is provided by a flexible belt drive and a shear system in the hub of each cutter disc. The cutter-bar has stone guards and large hardened skids as standard. The spring-mounted cutter-bar provides low ground pressure and is claimed to be gentle on the field surface.
Fella tedders in action at Grass & Muck include the new TH 7706. This is a heavy-duty, 7.7m wide, linkage-mounted tedder. It uses a patented traction/compression system to transmit the machine weight to the lower control arms. This ensures ground contact and provides automatic centralised folding and disconnection of the drive when lifting the rotors into transport position.
Rocking in work is claimed to be eliminated by the low pulling point and the pendulum brake integrated into the linkage arms. The patented edge spreading device on both sides can be adjusted from the tractor seat to ensure no grass gets into the ditches.
Two Fella twin rotor rakes will be demonstrated. The TS 671 has adjustable working width from 5.8 to 6.6m. The 3D rotor suspension is designed to ensure the rotor follows the ground contours and prevents ground contact with the front tines when lifting and lowering. Fella claims this gives no ground contamination and a clean raking job.
The patented SteerGUARD steering system is claimed to provide high stability at 50km/h. The working width is adjustable in four stages, without tools. It always returns to the lowest transport height independent of the pre-selected working width – another Fella patent. Automatic height limitation and large ground clearance are provided in the headland turning position.
The Fella TS 8055Pro is a twin-rotor rake with a working width up to 8.8m to take in three wide 3m swaths spread out. The six-wheel rotor chassis with controllable twin jockey wheel and 18/8.50-8 tyres ensures following of ground contours.
