Manufactured in Co Meath, Zero Grazer unveiled a new mini grazer at the Ploughing earlier this week. Niall O’Reilly from Zero-Grazer explained, “We designed and built the mini-grazer after a number of enquiries over the past number of years from people working in various industries such as horticulture, municipal and equine. It also has the capacity to feed 25 lactating dairy cows for a 12 hour day.”

The mini grazer weighs in at two tonnes and has a one tonne capacity. It has the same cutting and transfer unit that’s used in Zero Grazer’s larger machines. It comes with two cutting options, either a 1.85m or a 2.1m drum mower. Each of the two drums has four blades that can be reversed.

The mower bed floats on a linkage system with spring suspension that follows the ground contours. The cut grass is transferred to the storage unit by the nine finger rows within the gearbox-driven elevator. The gearbox is driven with a slip clutch PTO shaft to protect the elevator from overloading. Two hydraulic cylinders lift the elevator and mower unit, incorporating a soft ride suspension system.

Designed and manufactured by Hand Engineering, Co Meath, this machine is one of two that have been built. The other was sold to a small scale beef finisher in Co Cavan. Zero Grazer have said 70hp will comfortably power the machine. This machine is spec’d out on 500/50R17 BKT flotation tyres. This mini grazer would set you back €24,500 including VAT.
