Carlow-based machinery manufacturer HiSpec has recently designed and developed an in-house trailing shoe to complement its tanker range. The trailing shoe is available in 6m, 7.5m and 9m working widths.

It features a chassis-mounted mast for optimum balance and support. The axle is also moved rearwards to support the trailing shoe weight.

The 7.5m and 9m trailing shoes feature double folding to reduce the overall height for transportation. This double folding was designed so that the trailing shoe will not exceed the height of the firm’s standard 2600 gallon tanker.

It’s also possible to use both fill points and splashplate at the rear.

The 9m trailing shoe features hydraulic self-levelling. The firm said that each arm will lift as it passes over a side incline, ensuring that the pressure on the outer boots is reduced.

HiSpec use the Vogelsang Exacut to distribute slurry to the hoses. A stone trap on the rear of the shoe allows the tanker to be filled manually, or using the splash plate by changing a spool at the rear of the tractor. It comes galvanised and features an LED lighting bar. The trailing shoe can be used as a dribble bar if needed by keeping the mast off the ground.
