Based in Ardee, Co Louth, Oriel manufactures a range of excavator attachments to suit construction, forestry and agricultural industries.

Since launching its original tree shear on the market in Ireland in 2018, the firm now offers four different models to suit excavators of varying sizes, from 3t up to 30t.

Even the smallest model designed for 3t machines is said to cut trees up to 8in in diameter, while the largest model has been built for use with 30t machines and is capable of cutting trees up to 18in in diameter. All models adopt the same working principle and are built using Hardox steel.

The most popular model in the range is the OTS-350, which is designed specifically for excavators ranging from 12t to 14t. It has a cutting diameter of 14in and weighs a total of 650kg.

All Oriel tree shears are designed to be low maintenance and come with a two-year warranty.

The firm is also working on a new concept which it calls the positive pre-clamp.

This shears, which remains in development, is designed to clamp the tree before shearing, increasing safety of the process.
