Ryanair’s planes may not be flying but the trade for heifers from the airline’s CEO certainly was last Saturday.

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary hosted his annual on-farm sale over the weekend, netting €80,000 from his 20 pedigree Angus heifers.

While this year’s sale took place online with no ringside bidders, this was no impediment to buyers’ eagerness to acquire some of the Gigginstown bloodlines.

Top price on the day was €6,800 for the five-star Red Angus heifer Gigginstown Red Gammer.

Overall, the sale boasted an average price of €4,000, with a 100% clearance, which will likely stand as one of the best Angus sales all year.
