A Blackface ram lamb from Auldhouseburn by Muirkirk in Ayrshire sold for £150,000 on Friday at Lanark. The lamb went to Crossflatt and High Staward, with a third share retained. The lamb was just £10,000 short of the current breed record of £160,000, which was paid for his father from Elmscleugh by Dunbar.

Overall, 152 lambs sold to average £5075.

Yesterday Alastair and David MacArthur of Nunnerie at Elvanfoot, sold a shearling tup for £100,000 to Iain Campbell, Glenrath, Peeble.
