Some producer groups are reporting lamb numbers rising by anywhere from 50% to 100% on last week, while hogget numbers continue to follow a sharp seasonal decline.
Factories are struggling to source desired numbers which has generated more competition in the marke, with lamb quotes rising by 10c/kg and hoggets by up to 20c/kg.
Hoggets continue to trade in a price range from €7.25/kg to €7.50/kg, while there is also variation in the spring lamb trade, with prices ranging from €8/kg to €8.20/kg in the main.

Seamus McMenamin sheep and livestock sector manager, Bord Bia, reports that
Easter and the month of Ramadan combined with no notable improvement in global supplies mean a strengthening lamb trade.
Numbers are still coming strong on to the market and with a lot of buying done for the Easter trade and two shorter weeks' processing demand has steadied.
