Tully, the ICBF’s commercial testing progeny centre, has become locked up with TB in the past few weeks.

The centre, which is home to over 300 animals on test, operates a strict animal health and biosecurity policy which includes a 30-day pre-movement test carried out on all purchased animals. It is understood that the animals in question went down as part of an annual herd test a number of weeks ago.

The Irish Farmers Journal understands the TB outbreak will not affect trials in any way.

It will mean, however, that the centre may apply for TB feedlot status which would allow it to continue to purchase animals for trial.
