Three farms totalling 108ac are on the market in Co Sligo. They are being sold by REA McCarrick and go to auction this month. The farms are in the estate of the late Andrew and Daniel Crean and are guided at €5,000/ac to €6,000/ac.

The three farms are in close proximity to each other and centrally located within the county. All are within about 8km of Collooney and Ballymote, within 16km of Sligo town and within 2km of the N17 (Sligo to Galway road).

The auctioneer says that the three farms have not been grazed over the last number of years and need general drain cleaning and improvement.

“Ploughing and re-seeding of the fields would show immediate improvements,” Roger McCarrick said.

Some of the land for sale is good-quality grazing ground.

The three farms are laid out as follows:

Lot one is at Carrickbanagher, Collooney, and consists of 40ac with a four-room cottage at the back of the farm. The land is of mixed quality and conveniently situated along a public road.

Lot two is at Ballynabole, Collooney, and consists of 29ac of mixed-quality land. There is good road frontage. This parcel is split by a public road and so can be sold in two separate lots if required, one of 21ac and the second of 8ac.

Lot three is at Claragh Scotch, Ballymote and consists of 39ac. This land is mainly good-quality grazing land. It is described as good upland ground that would make an excellent winter farm. However, the land has poor access. There are no payment entitlements or significant farm sheds on the three farms.

Roger McCarrick said that there have been strong enquiries about the farms from farmers involved in dairying and drystock and also from forestry interests.

The auction takes place on Wednesday 24 November. For COVID-19 reasons, only people who register in advance to bid will be allowed attend.
