Kildare Age Friendly programme for farmers

7 February, 10:30am - 2pm: Kildare Age Friendly programme and Kildare/West Wicklow IFA together bring you a community roadshow targeting farmers over 55 but not exclusive to this age group. Taking place at Kilcullen Mart with lunch served at 1pm. This county wide event will have information on health and well-being, rightsizing/age friendly homes, education and employment, mobility and balance and safety/security. Organisations in attendance on the day include: Mental Health Ireland, the Men’s Sheds, Women’s Sheds, Kildare Sports Partnership, Libraries (Land Books), Gardaí (Crime Prevention & Property Marking), HSE, Older Voices Kildare (befriending), Climate action team KCC, Embrace, Kildare Community Stories, Kildare Nationalist, Heads up programme (Men’s Health) and more.

Brigid of Faughart Festival, Co Louth

29 January - 6 February: A celebration of Brigid, Goddess and Saint takes place in various locations from Dundalk, Faughart and Ravensdale. With talks, walks, children’s events, meditations, music, song, and storytelling for both children and adults there is a packed programme to suit all interests and abilities. Brigid of Kildare talk, Leixlip Library

3 February, 3:30pm: Karen Ward, author of children’s book ‘Glorious Goddesses of Ancient Ireland’ will share the story of Celtic Goddess and Matron Saint of Ireland, Brigid. Children and adults are welcome to join this fun and informative session.

5 February, 4-5pm: Atlantic Aparthotel, Main Street, Bundoran, Co Donegal. Féile na mBan celebrates the contributions of woman in our diaspora and those around the world. It honours their creativity, their talents and their extraordinary achievements. 6 February, 2pm & 3pm: There are two free workshops to celebrate Brigid and the coming of spring. You are welcome to come along to make Brigid’s crosses and/or a Brídeog to take home. The two workshops will be the same, choose whichever time suits you. All welcome and no booking required. No charge, donations are welcome.

Brigid’s Way, Imbolg pilgrimage, Dublin city

6 February, 9.30am: Moon Mná Celtic Women’s Circles will lead this pilgrimage, meeting at The Sanctuary Holistic Centre, Stanhope Street, Dublin 7. Walking along the quays, through Phoenix Park and onto the Grand Canal to the ancient pilgrim path and lesser-known St Brigid’s Well in Clondalkin. On arrival, Clondalkin musicians, singers and storytellers will provide a welcome. There will be a water blessing and fire ritual to complete this walk. This is a free event and you are asked to dress appropriately, bring a packed lunch and be prepared for an 11km walk at a steady pace.
