Met Éireann has issued a yellow wind warning for counties Clare, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, and Waterford from 4am on Tuesday morning 8 March.

Strong to near-gale force and gusty southeast to south winds are forecast for Tuesday morning and afternoon.

These winds will be accompanied by heavy rain, clearing to squally showers through the afternoon.

Met Éireann has warned motorists that driving conditions may be hazardous, with localised flooding a possibility.

Expected onset of these adverse conditions is 4am Tuesday morning 8 March and they are expected to last until 4pm that afternoon.

Met Éireann has also issued another status yellow wind warning for Munster, Donegal and Connacht at 10pm Tuesday night.

Tuesday night and Wednesday morning will see very strong and gusty south to southeast winds.

The expected onset of this warning is at 10pm Tuesday night.

Met Éireann has said that it will last until 12pm Wednesday.

A status yellow rain warning has also been issued for parts of the country as heavy rain is forecast from 11pm on Tuesday until 6pm on Wednesday.

The counties affected by this include Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford.

On Tuesday night and Wednesday, heavy falls of rain will occur, falling as sleet or snow in places for a time.

Localised flooding is forecast leading to poor driving conditions for motorists.
