Robert Nixon Auctioneers has sold a 90ac former dairy farm located at Enagh, Virginia, Co Cavan, by private treaty.
The Kells-based auctioneer has reached sale agreement with a business buyer from Co Cavan for €1.45m (€16,111/ac). Initially guided at €1m to €1.2m, it exceeded the top end of that guide price by almost €2,800/ac.
Demand for large blocks of land for dairy isn’t just confined to the southern half of the country, as this sale proves. Auctioneer Robert Nixon said the under-bidder was another individual with business interests.

In milk production until about 10 years ago, the residential farm has a 12-unit Alfa Laval swing-over milking parlour, slatted sheds, 84 cubicles with automatic scrapers all under one roof.
There is a slatted tank for the holding yard and the land is well served by good road and water infrastructure.
The residence consists of a two-storey farmhouse with four bedrooms that was built in the late 1970s.
