They say good things come to those who wait and it surely was the case in Gortatlea Mart this week for a farmer and their near seven-year-old bullock who enjoyed a rip-roaring trade. A top price of €3,790 was paid for an 83-month-old Simmental weighing 1,310kg.
With finished cattle in short supply, there is no talk of carcase weight limits from factories. With the bullock likely killing out over 700kg carcase weight, I’d like to see the polystyrene tray that holds that steak.
