61 acres overlooked by Croghan Hill, Co Offaly

An attractive 61-acre farm at Kilcorbery, Croghan, Co Offaly, has started to generate a steady level of interest since officially launched to the market in the past few weeks.

Being a relatively flat county, Croghan Hill is one of the few hills in Co Offaly and is known locally for its scenery and sprawling landscape.

The land at Kilcorbery boasts fabulous views of Croghan Hill and, according to selling agents Gordon Cobbe and Peter Scully from GVM, Tullamore, it is one of the few standout farms offered for sale in the area in a number of years.

Split by the road, the farmyard on circa 51.89 acres is situated directly across from the remaining circa 9.198 acres. Used as a beef farm over the years, the land is described as “prime grazing ground” that ranges from flat to gentle sloping.

Let out for meadow for the past number of years, the farm is laid out in two fields only – a large 51.89-acre field that features extensive road frontage and may offer site potential subject to the appropriate planning permission, and a 9.198-acre field. The circa 51.89 acres also comes with access to shared turbary rights to a bog and a farmyard that features two attractive stone buildings, a four-bay hayshed and a lean-to.

For auction on 1 July next in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore, at 3pm, the farm will be offered in its entire or in two lots that include the farmyard on circa 51.89 acres and the remaining circa 9.19 acres, respectively.

17 acres near Geashill

Elsewhere, the same agent is handling the sale of a 17.4-acre parcel of grazing ground at Ballykeane, Geashill, Co Offaly. The land is laid out in two non-adjoining fields and is described as “very good quality”.

It goes to auction on 8 July at 3pm in the Bridge House Hotel and is guided in the region of €8,000 to €9,000/acre.
