While the sale wasn’t huge given the time of year, trade was good on the day, with just over 70 animals entered.

There was a larger entry of bullocks, with an average price of €2.35/kg paid for 250kg to 350kg animals.
Sixteen bullocks weighing 350kg to 400kg averaged €2.42/kg, with a good number of continental types fetching €2.40 to €2.50/kg in the main.
Bullocks in the 400kg to 500kg weight band averaged €2.32/kg and up to €2.91/kg for a 12-month-old Charolais weighing 492kg who sold for €1,430.
There were a couple of cows with calves at foot. A 2017-born Hereford cow with a June-born Limousin heifer calf at foot sold for €1,425, while a 2018-born Angus cow with a May-born Limousin heifer calf at foot sold for €1,380.
Commenting on the sale, mart manager Eimear McGuinness said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers the benefits of online sales.
“It gives more flexibility to the buyers who can now bid without the need to be here, while, for the seller, we are exposing their stock to more potential buyers.
Almost 30% of the cattle were sold online, which is a great result for our first sale.”
