The Beef Forum, chaired by Minister Michael Creed, is to convene on Wednesday 12 July.
One of the areas the IFA is seeking to progress surrounds the area of carcase classification, carcase trim and the implementation of an official appeals process.
IFA livestock chair Angus Woods said a key issue to be resolved is “the Department of Agriculture oversight” on carcase classification, trim and carcase weights in beef factories.
The IFA wants to use existing assistant officers (AOs) in meat plants to provide permanent monitoring on carcase grading, trim and weights, and an independent appeals system.
