Gortatlea Mart in Kerry held a weanling heifer show and sale on Wednesday evening.
Following a bull weanling sale the week before there was yet another good turnout of sellers and stock.
Most cattle made between €350 and €755 over the €/kg with some prizewinners selling for over €1,000 with the weight, well over in some cases.
A heifer born in January 2017, 365kg, €1,080, €2.96/kg.
Most heifers on the night weighed between 290kg and 420kg with a smaller selection over and above this weight range.
A heifer born in September 2016, 405kg, €1,160, €2.86/kg.
Top price
U+ and E grade potential animals were top sellers on the night making from €2.85/kg up to €2.96/kg in most cases, with a few select lots making up to €3.25.
A heifer born in December 2016, 495kg, €1,600, €3.23/kg.
There was less demand for the plainer continentals and they sold from €2.05/kg up to €2.40/kg with R+ to U grades making from €2.40/kg up to €2.80/kg.

Dairy cross heifers and traditional beef crosses were thin on the ground and sold from €1.95/kg up to €2.15/kg.
