Trade was on fire at the 13th annual Walter Brennan in-calf heifer sale on Friday night, with 44 lots selling to an average price of €2,838.
Topping the sale on the evening was Lot 10, a roan Limousin heifer in-calf to EBY that sold for €5,000.
Walter said he was really pleased with how the sale went and that it surpassed his expectations.
“I was nervous at the start. With not having people around the ring, I just didn’t know how it would go. But after one or two lots I was able to relax and enjoy the sale which seemed to get better and better as it went on.”
The quality of heifers was superb and drew in buyers from right around the country, with a number of heifers heading to the North.
Balla Mart manager Tom Jordan said that throughout the week they had been inundated with buyers requesting permission to bid on the MartBids platform.
There were over 3,000 viewers of the sale throughout the night.
