The €100m Beef Exceptional Aid Measure (BEAM) opened to farmers on Monday of this week. However, a small number of farmers were unable to apply.
One farmer who contacted the Irish Farmers Journal said when he tried to access the “exceptional aid” part of the login, he got an “access denied” message.
A spokesperson for the Department of Agriculture told the Irish Farmers Journal: “There was an issue where individuals with multiple herd numbers or farmers who had accessed Agfood in the past as an individual who have since registered as a company were being denied access. These issues have been rectified.
“The numbers involved were relatively small."
As of Tuesday evening, some 2,779 farmers had applied to the scheme. It remains open until 8 September 2019.
