As a languages and marketing graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Ailish has worked in the agribusiness sector for 17 years. This includes 11 years as marketing manager with Lely Atlantic Ltd. Since 2007, she has worked with domestic and international marketing teams to develop, create and deliver innovative agribusiness strategies and marketing campaigns. Speaking about her appointment Ailish says, “I’m delighted to have joined the Green Acre Marketing team and have already established productive relationships with our clients in supporting them to grow their business. I’ve always prided myself on having a positive, can-do attitude with colleagues and clients alike and am looking forward to what my journey with Green Acre holds in store beyond 2024.”
Following graduation from Animal and Crop Production in UCD in 2016, Kevin worked with the Farm Relief Service and Teagasc for two years. He then went back to complete a master’s in knowledge transfer and innovation in agriculture through the Walsh Scholarship Programme with UCD and Teagasc. In March 2020, Kevin took up the position as environmental sustainability executive with Food Drink Ireland which he held for the last four years. Speaking about his new position Kevin says, “The Dairy Sustainability Ireland role will co-ordinate and bring all relevant stakeholders together, securing alignment on priority issues and collating data to track performance across key metrics across the sector. It will showcase the dairy sector’s commitment to a joined-up national approach to tackling climate and broader sustainability challenges.”
With over 20 years of national and international cross-sectoral experience, Edel’s career has worked in public, private and global consultancy sectors in Ireland, Europe, USA and Australia. She has a strong focus on regional development, building commercial and ecosystem partnerships, and developing tailored solutions to address unmet client and market needs. Speaking about her new appointment Edel says, “In this new role I am particularly looking forward to partnering collaboratively with UCD and Teagasc to harness the collective domain expertise. In addition, their farming, industry and entrepreneurial experience and track record of supporting, fostering and spinning out successful start-ups within the Agtech sector will be instrumental in supporting the success of the FAST-IP programme.”
Starting her professional career as an innovation consultant in Spain, Carmen focused on bioeconomy, food and Agri European and National projects. That allowed her to jump into an Irish research role in MTU, helping to develop the first bioeconomy monitoring tool in Ireland by developing a map of current biomasses. She now coordinates a Horizon Europe project called BBioNets. Speaking about her new appointment Carmen says, “Researching in the circular bioeconomy field is exciting for me as it gives me hope for the planet’s health. Finding sustainable solutions for both the economy and the environment is my present and main focus. I am aiming to create a thematic network towards Bio-based solutions for foresters and farmers.”
After graduating with a BSc in Animal Science from University College Dublin in 2023, Niamh started the Tirlán ‘Unearth Your Future’ graduate program. In tandem with this, she also worked for Farm Relief Services as a relief milker to learn more about the dairy side of the sector. This paid off as she is now working every day with milk suppliers as she moved internally and took up the position of business manager veterinary. Speaking about the appointment, Niamh says,” I am broadening my knowledge both in the veterinary and dairy hygiene categories in Tirlán. I also look forward to networking with fellow colleagues in the Irish Agri-food sector. I intend to set targets and exceed them while in this new role.”
