German dairy processors collected 63m litres less milk that month than last year. While Germany’s supply remains behind previous years, the gap is now narrowing.
France, the second-largest European producer, was on a similar catch-up trend until March, but saw its supply hit by unseasonal dry weather in April.
The British supply was down in March too, while Spain and the Netherlands bucked the trend with increases in production.
April was on a completely different path with an estimated 15% growth in April supply.
