Glenart Outdoors – 22 June: Glenart Outdoors presents Cliona Hagan and Marty Mone for a night of country music and dancing. Cliona Hagan recently appeared on Dancing with the Stars with a return to the stage for this outdoor event. Marty Mone has gone from strength to strength, blasting onto the country music scene after the release of his YouTube viral song Hit the Diff back in December 2014. A Midsummer Night’s Dream – 23 June: Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests and meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players. Beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful musical score and enchanting woodland creatures come together to make this an evening of unmissable summer garden theatre. The Flood – 21 June: Wendy, a hardened immigration officer is offered a high-profile asylum case, judged on her ability to quickly and clinically reject applicants. Through her interrogation, she must uncover whether Haile is lying and has a more sinister reason for seeking asylum. We follow Haile on his perilous 5,000km journey over oceans, across borders and amidst the flurry of the Calais Jungle to find solace and safety in the UK. But now he must cross the final hurdle. Based on multiple true stories, The Flood is a thoughtful and timely reflection on the humanity within the refugee crisis. This drama film is set for release in Irish cinemas from 21 June.
Unhinged Comedy – 23 June: Unhinged Comedy Club comes to the Ha’Penny Bridge Inn for a night of laughs with four of Ireland’s leading comedians performing on the night. Connor McDonough-Flynn will take to the stage with over six years’ experience in stand-up. His comedic style has been described as “bizarre, bold and unbalanced”. Mise Éire: The Show – 24 June: Mise Éire: The Show is a fascinating journey through Ireland’s past, visiting different characters and events in Irish history and bringing them to life with traditional Irish music, song and dance. It comes to the Galmont Hotel, Galway city. Learn of Grace O’Malley, the pirate Queen of Connacht and Cú Chulainn. Hear of the history of the Claddagh fishing village in Galway and the story of the Claddagh ring. Come aboard a ship sailing to America during the 1800s and the story of Annie Moore, the first registered name to cross the threshold at Ellis Island.
