Johnny’s tribute to his brother
Legendary singer Johnny McEvoy has written a special song about his brother Tom who passed away in July 2018. The song entitled Thomas pays tribute to a brother who Johnny says was “like a father figure to me”.
The song has been issued as a double single along with The Sailor from his forthcoming double album, The Eclectic Johnny McEvoy, which features 25 songs. The album is produced by Bill Shanley and is his fifth studio album release in five years.
The Hits from Derek
The latest album from Derek Ryan features 21 songs and is appropriately enough entitled The Hits. It features several of Derek’s most popular songs over the last few years including God’s Plan, The Belle of Liverpool and one of his most popular of all, Hold On To Your Hat, which also features Sharon Shannon.
The Hits is now on sale from all music suppliers and from Sharpe Music in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
Love songs from Anne Randolph
Anne Randolph combines her love of music and sport in a special way. The mother of the Republic of Ireland soccer goalkeeper, Darren Randolph, has just released a new album, If This Be Love.
The title track was composed by Mick Hanly who is best known for Past the Point of Rescue, a massive hit for Hal Ketchum in America.
“The album is a collection of some of my favourite love songs, some old and some new, but all evocative in their own very special way,” reflects Anne.
Among the 12-track collection are The Dimming of the Day, My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose, and The Song of Wandering Aenghus. Others include When My Morning Comes Around and Real Good for Free, written respectively by Iris DeMent and Joni Mitchell, two of Anne’s favourite American performers.
