Keelan Greaney from Co Galway was crowed Tuesday’s Ploughing for Stars champion in the final of the singing competition that took place at the Irish Farmers Journal stand today.
He gave a hair-raising rendition of Randy Travis’s Three Wooden Crosses to take home the prize, which is getting to sing with Mike Denver at one of his gigs.
At one stage this morning, it was almost ‘game over’ for Keelan when he ran into issues with his bus in Galway, but thankfully friends were on hand to ferry him to Carlow.

There was stiff competition from Wexford’s Peter Hughes, who sang a self-penned song A Shed with No Hay and Tipperary’s Mary ‘Flash’ Gordon, who sang Red River Valley.
The judges faced with making the decision on the day were Mairead Lavery of the Irish Farmers Journal; Deirdre O’Shea of Agri-Aware and country singer Olivia Douglas.
Musical director of The Rose of Tralee Ollie Hennessey was on hand to provide accompaniment.
Ploughing for Stars will take place again tomorrow at the Irish Farmers Journal stand at 4pm, when three new contestants will battle it out to win another chance to sing with Mike Denver.
