Timber 17 is the fourth forestry and bioenergy show organised by David Wilkinson and his team. The following is a shaphot of the biennial show, which has settled in Stradbally over the last three events.
2011: Colin and Kenneth Worrell, Worrell Harvesting Ltd have supported the show since 2011 2013: At the Teagasc launch of the Alder and Birch Seed Orchard were: Dr Eugene Hendrick (COFORD); Dr Elaine O’Connor (Forestry Development Dept, Teagasc); Dr Frank O’Mara (director of research, Teagasc); Deputy Charles Flanagan and now Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade; Oliver Sheridan ( Teagasc); Dr Nuala Ni Fhlatharta (head forestry development,Teagasc ); Tom McDonald (Forest Service) and Michael Lynn, (chair, COFORD).2015: Despite the emphasis on large-scale machinery, William O’Sullivan demonstrated that timber extraction by horse still has a role in Irish forestry. 2017: Andrew Doyle, Minister of State with responsibility for forestry, will launch Timber 17 at 12 noon on Friday 5 May. Pictured here with Marianne Lyons, forestry teacher and students at Ballyhaise College, Minister Doyle will emphasise the role of education and triaining in his opening speech to encourage greater wood mobilisation.
