Bridgeway Engineering has now added Turkey and Denmark to the list of export markets taking its aerator equipment. “There are a lot of equine studs in Turkey and they want to improve the quality of their pasture,” says Liam Fallon, managing director of the Co Offaly firm.

The UK is still Bridgeway’s main export market. ‘‘With their larger field sizes, we are selling them wider units – up to 6.5m (23ft),” Liam says.

These machines feature hydraulic-folding for travelling on roads and through gates. The firm manufactures aeration units with its patented twisted blade, which gives more stirring action to the sward’s root system. The machine runs along the ground on skids and the blades have a 175mm (7in) working depth. The blades are ground driven – not pto or hydraulic drive. There is the option of adding a roller, a scarifier bar or a seeding unit with a 110-litre seed hopper. This makes the machine suited for one-pass grass or clover seeding, typically after a silage cut. The firm’s range also includes a single leg mole plough with Hardox soil engaging parts.
