The Irish Charollais sheep Society will again be located in the National Sheep Breeders Association of Ireland tunnel at this year’s Ploughing.
The stand will feature a selection of pedigree and commercial Charollais sheep and will be attended to by committee members and breeders who will be more than happy to answer any questions and give information about the breed. Society yearbooks with photos and interesting articles will be available for the public to take away to learn more about the breed.
The popularity of the breed has increased this year, with the society growing steadily in numbers. This shows what the breed can offer the farmer and the factories. On the pedigree side of the stand, Liam Conway’s all-Ireland winning senior ram will be on display, while Declan Miley will be present with the winning pair of ewe lambs from Tullamore Show.
From a commercial point of view, there will be a number of Charollais-cross lambs on display for the public to view and see the benefits that a Charollais ram can bring to their flock.
This year has seen a very successful premier sale and a big increase in the clearance rates. The committee and breeders that will be manning the stand at the Ploughing look forward to meeting and talking to all the people that wish to stop, chat and learn more about the breed.
