Grass Technology Grazers will now incorporate a PZ mower unit, adapted in conjunction with Kuhn specifically for use in its grazer.
The company has been granted the exclusive worldwide rights for the use of the PZ drum mower in a zero-grazing machine.
The new grazer with PZ mower will be launched at this year’s Ploughing, where the company will also showcase a new grass seeder that is currently in the final stages of development.
Quality
The PZ mower is renowned for its high-quality build and reliability, even in the most testing conditions according to the company. The new Grass Tech grazer with PZ mower range, consists of four models, all of which feature a 2.20 metre-wide PZ220 mower.
The mower unit comprises two drums, each fitted with eight quick-change blades. The smallest model, the GT80, has been redesigned and now benefits from a wider 2.1m PZ mower. As part of the redesign, the GT80 now utilises the same chassis as the larger GT 120 and 140 models.
The trailer is filled and emptied using a variable speed hydraulically powered bed conveyor. The specification includes centralised greasing, full load sensor and rearview camera. All models are available with the option of a rear-mounted feed-out conveyor, which can be used for quick and accurate feeding into troughs or against feed barriers.
Ground compaction
To keep ground compaction to a minimum a wide range of different tyre widths are available on request. The machine does not require a high-powered tractor. The largest GT160 model only requires 130hp and the smallest, GT80, just 75hp.
To further reduce weight and for mechanical simplicity, all the hydraulic services are powered from the tractor, not by a separate pump.
The new Grass Tech seeder has a working width of 2.5m and is designed around an Amazone seeder unit. The seeder units have a 75mm spacing and utilise a unique foot. A blade on the underside of the foot creates a slot into which the seed is placed and the slot is then sealed by a closing unit on the rear of the foot.
Drilling depth
To maintain an even drilling depth across the whole width of the seeder, a series of small interconnected hydraulic rams, one for each seeder foot, are mounted on the underside of the seeder bar and operate at a set pressure.
In the event of a seeder foot hitting an object such as a large stone, as it rises to ride over the object, the displaced oil from the ram raises the working pressure in the other seeder arm rams to ensure that they don’t also rise, ensuring that the required working depth is maintained.
In addition to grass seeds, the Grass Tech Seeder can also be used for drilling clover and a wide range of brassica seeds, including rape and kale.
