The British eventing team of Oliver Townend, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen produced a classy performance to win eventing team gold.

This marks the first team eventing victory for Britain in 49 years, the last time being in Munich in 1972.

Australia took silver, while the defending champions from France claimed bronze.

After a clear round from Britain’s Tom McEwen, team mate Laura Collett finished her round on four faults with London 52.

The ever cool and collected Oliver Townend entered the ring with the ISH Ballaghmor Class and lowered just one fence to leave the British team on a final score of 86.30, leaving them well ahead of their nearest rivals, Australia (100.20) and France (101.50).
