Jonty Evans remains in a stable condition in intensive care in Beaumont Hospital Dublin. Evans is under the care of the hospital’s neurological team.
On Monday Horse Sport Ireland released a statement where Jonty’s family expressed their thanks for the care Jonty is receiving and the overwheming support from the public.
This is a very difficult time and they have reiterated their request for privacy and for people to please not contact the hospital directly looking for updates on Jonty’s condition.
Injuries
The statement gave the first indication of the extent of the injuries Jonty sustained after falling off Cooley Rorkes Drift on Sunday, June 3rd in the CIC3* competition at Tattersalls International.
“The family appreciate that people do wish to understand the nature of Jonty’s head injury and we can confirm that Jonty has not yet recovered consciousness after his fall.
“Although no longer under heavy sedation, further tests in the past few days have shown that it is a significant brain injury and it may take Jonty many months to recover.
“The Beaumont Hospital medical team continue to emphasise that every case has to be treated individually and people’s recovery rates vary case by case.”
