Chui Doorbell

For home-gadget lovers, this has got to be one of the coolest gizmos we’ve seen. Chui is the world’s smartest doorbell. With an in-built camera, it allows you to record your friends and family and then, using facial recognition, you can set the door to allow access to those it recognises. That’s not all. It connects to your smart phone and allows you to talk to your visitor via the bell, record messages for specific people (eg “I’m in the shower let yourself in”), and it even helps you to ignore pesky guests by not even ringing when they turn up on your doorstep.

Rent a Local Friendl

Avid travellers are sure to be enthused by this clever service. The idea behind Rent a Local Friend is simple – it connects people travelling to new places with locals that are passionate about their hometowns. By making this connection, the traveller gets access that they would never find in a travel guide. The service is set up in lots of cities and users can browse friends based on their common interests, the cost, and the types of tours they want. This is so much more than your average tour guide.

Twinkindl

This is how to do a self portrait like never before. Using 3D printing technology, Twinkind allows users to make 3D photographic figurines. The result is your very own mini-me. The life-like figures can be created in seconds and are then shipped to you within weeks. They have a clay-like feel and are pretty sturdy. Unfortunately, Twinkind is based in Berlin and this process has to be completed in person, so the Web Summit is the perfect opportunity to meet the team.

Kolibreel

Brushing your teeth just got a whole lot smarter. Kolibree is a sonic toothbrush that the whole family can use to improve oral hygiene. Like most gadgets these days, the brush comes with a mobile phone app that records how the toothbrush is used. It tracks the time spent brushing, as well as the movements of the brush, and provides up-to-date data of how users can improve. The app also comes with a fun element that is great for kids – rewarding them via a game every time they brush their teeth better.

WÜfl

This is one exhibitor that dog owners should be sure to visit. WÜf is the world’s first ever smart collar. It allows owners to communicate with their pet pooches better than ever. Track, train, teach and thank your dog with the collar that connects to an app on your phone. It records lots of helpful data about your dog, including where it is and if it has been barking.

Solepowerl

Solepower is one of the most innovative inventions showcasing at this year’s Summit. We’re all familiar with solar power, but now there’s a new energy source to get to grips with – the power of your feet. The clever shoe insoles allow wearers to build up energy as they walk, storing it up in a handy battery that is worn outside the shoe. The energy stored can then be used in times of need, such as to charge up a phone, mp3 player or any other gadget with a USB port. This is multitasking at its finest.

Yoogaial

Are you a fan of yoga, pilates and kettlebell classes? Do you find it hard to attend regular classes because of a busy schedule? Then this might just be the thing for you. Yoogaia is the first ever live online yoga studio in the world that brings classes into your home in real-time. The classes are guided by trained instructors via a webcam, but worry not, only the instructor can see you exercise, no one else. The best part is that if you miss a class you can watch it back any time.

Hudwayl

This mobile app is all about improving your driving in low visibility conditions. It builds the route ahead as you drive and reflects it onto your windshield from your iPhone or iPad. Together with voice hints on upcoming bends and bumps, the display is easy to navigate and will help you to drive smarter and, most importantly, safer.
