Red Rhino mini-crushers

Dungannon Plant Sales is the main dealer for McCloskey International and has just signed a deal as Irish importer and distributor for Red Rhino mini-crushers. Red Rhino is a UK-based company founded in 1999 and located in Lincolnshire. It produces all components in-house at its manufacturing facility to ensure top quality in every machine. It currently produces a range of mini-crushers from the 750kg 2000 series up to the 10,000kg 7000 series. The crushers work on a very simple action that calls for two jaws, set in V, to be powered together. Material such as rocks, bricks and kerbstones enter at the top and become progressively crushed as they slip down into the V until they are small enough to fall through the gap at the bottom. The size of the finished material is governed by the width of the gap at the bottom.

Output can vary from 10mm to 150mm depending on the settings of the jaws.

Concrete

Maintaining the momentum of the crushers through the heavy flywheel is the key to successful crushing. If a particularly tough lump of concrete is encountered, there is enough reserve power to crush even the hardest lumps.

Irish interest

The 2000 and 3000 series, which can both be tractor-mounted on the three-point linkage, will be of most interest to Irish farmers and contractors.

The crushers in both series are powered by a hydraulic motor, which can be driven off the tractor’s own hydraulic system. The unit can be operated as a standalone machine via a hydraulic power pack or, alternatively, it can be fitted with an electric motor to suit the customer’s needs. The 2000 series has an oil requirement of 35 litres per minute while the larger 3000 machine requires 60/80 litres per minute, depending on whether an optional discharge conveyor is fitted.

Compact

These mini-crushers are compact in size and can be easily transported with a weight of 740kg and 1.7t for the 2000 and 3000 series, respectively. Red Rhino claims that the 2000 series has an output of between 6t and 8t per hour, while the 3000 series can produce between 15t and 20t tper hour.

Farmers now have the option to turn their waste material and stones picked from the fields into usable filling or rubble to use on cow roads or yards. What was once an eyesore piled up behind a shed can be turned into useful material with the help of the Red Rhino mini-crusher.

Price

Red Rhino offers a hire locator service through its website, where customers can log in and locate their nearest operator who they can then contact to get their work completed. This service is included in the price of the machines, which start at €18,000 plus Vat for the 2000 series and €24,000 plus Vat for the 3000 series.
