Hennessy Auctioneers held its second auction since COVID-19 lockdown restrictions lifted. The auction took place in its usual location at the old mart in Portlaoise.
Bidding was both on site and online which proved a great success, according John Hennessy of Hennessy Auctioneers.
“There were over 250 registered bidders onsite Saturday, with all social distancing measures fully respected. Every bidding number secured a socially distanced seat in the arena to prevent overcrowding. A further 187 bidders were registered to bid online,” he noted.
“There has been a serious demand at both our recent June and July auctions with online bidding via the LSL app proving to be a good success. It gives people better access and flexibility to bid on items from the comfort of their armchair,” John explained.
Just under 350 lots were sold resulting in a total clearance rate of 85%. All prices were subject to 5% commission, subject to a maximum fee of €1,000 plus 23% VAT on commission only. Lots have no VAT unless otherwise stated.
Hennessy’s next auction is scheduled for 22 August, at the same location on site at the old mart in Portlaoise and online.
