Organised by a group of local tractor enthusiasts from a village on the Louth-Meath border, the annual Tullyallen tractor run has become increasingly established as not only one of the biggest events of its kind in the northeast but the entire country since its first outing in 2015. This year, it is expected to be no different.
Starting from Tullyallen Parochial Hall, the run takes in a route not too far from the banks of the River Boyne and Battle of the Boyne site, then crossing the M1 motorway passing the Pope’s Monument in Monasterboice before heading west towards the Co Meath border.
Taking place in the middle of the Christmas period on 27 December, the event has captured the imagination of the public with participants coming from far and wide along with the many families who descend on Tullyallen to view the polished tractors, vintages cars, trucks, jeeps and motorbikes, many of which are decorated for the Christmas festivities.
The organisers and supporters of the event have contributed significantly to two worthy local charities, namely NECRET which supports cutting-edge cancer and treatment in the Northeast Oncology and Haematology Unit, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, and Tullyallen Carers. To date, over €36,000 has been raised for these two worthy charities.
Registration will take place at the Tullyallen Parochial Hall from Midday with the run starting at 1pm. More details can be found on the Tullyallen Tractor Run Facebook page.
